Bleacherreport.com New Orleans, LA – January 20, 2016 Justin Tucker is coming back to the New Orleans Pelicans and it looks like he’ll be in his new uniform for 2016.
Tucker is a first round draft pick of the Saints back in the 2015 draft.
The Saints have been without a first-round pick since the 2015 NFL Draft, which is a problem as the Saints’ draft class has been fairly lackluster.
New Orleans lost two first round picks to the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals, while the Falcons lost two second round picks and the Tennessee Titans lost a third round pick.
New York Jets’ Jacoby Brissett (top left) and Los Angeles Rams’ Cody Whitehair (top right) were both drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2015 Super Bowl.
Whitehair is currently on the Rams’ practice squad, while Brissetts is on the Patriots’ practice roster.
The Saints are reportedly targeting free agent free safety Brandon Browner, who was released by the Chicago Bears in the offseason.
The Bears drafted Browner in the third round of last year’s draft, and he could be available after the Saints release him.
The team also has to figure out how to replace former second round pick Terrence Brooks.
Brooks is out for the year with a torn pectoral muscle, while Brooks is a second-year player who has only played one game in his career.
The New Orleans defense was a top-15 unit last season, and they were a top 15 unit in 2016, according to Pro Football Focus.
The team had the fifth-best pass rush in the league last season.
Tuckin was a second round draft choice of the St. Louis Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft.
He played for the Rams in 2013, but never played in an NFL game.
Took snaps with the Rams defense in 2015, and the Saints gave him a one-year contract worth $1.4 million.
